The fifth installment of “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History” (MPT and WETA at 8 p.m.) begins in 1933 with Franklin as the nation’s 32nd president amidst the Great Depression, and the formation of his series of initiatives known collectively as the New Deal. Eleanor, meanwhile, becomes a political force in her own right. The episode ends in 1939 with the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany.
